12G AUTOMATIC & M30 DRILLING REVIEW, WITH FINNTROLL 1984 (BATTLEFIELD V) The 12g Autoloading has a more recognized name too: the Browning Auto-5 or A5. It's a recoil-operated semi-auto shotgun designed by John Browning in USA and remained in production until 1998! Official service stopped in 1975 already but it was made for another 23 years after that. It was designed in 1898 and produced since 1902. Several variants are known as well: the Remington Model 11, Savage Model 720 and Savage Model 745. Not only the 12g was available but also the 16g and 20g. One of the variants, the Model 11, was used by Nirvana rockstar Kurt Cobain to commit suicide. The main reason why there was a 4-year period between design in 1898 and production start in 1902 was because Winchester refused Browning's terms and the President of Remington died of a heart attack as John Browning was waiting to offer the gun design to the Remington company. So, the FN company in Belgium started the production in 1902 and Remington got the license starting 1905. The 12g Automatic was also used in the Rhodesian Bush War between July of 1964 and December of 1979. Rhodesia was later renamed to Zimbabwe-Rhodesia. It was a war between several fractions with 2 guerrilla forces fighting against Zimbabwe-Rhodesia. The guerillas were supported by the Soviet Union, China, Libya and Cuba and lost about 10,000 combatants. The end of this war led in the end of white minority rule in Zimbabwe, bringing a black majority government and international independence on April 18, 1980 with Mugabe as President. The other shotgun on this video is the M30 Luftwaffe Drilling, a gun that was mainly used to defend airmen from large dangerous animals in North Africa. It was produced between 1941 and 1942 by Sauer & Sohn for a total of 2,456 units. The gun had 2 12g shotgun barrels on top and a rifle barrel below. The 2 shotgun barrels had to be loaded manually and worked with a Blitz lock system.
