ZH-29 REVIEW & ROTTERDAM INVASION, WITH FINNTROLL 1984 (BATTLEFIELD V) Name: ZH-29 Designer: 1929 by Emanuel Holek Manufacturer: Ceskoslovenska Zbrojovka (later renamed to Zbrojovka Brno) Firing range: 385 yards (350m) The Battle of Rotterdam already began on May 10, 1940, when German aircraft flew over the neutral Netherlands to fake an attack against Britain. However, when the aircraft were above the North Sea, they turned around and attacked West Holland with bombings and paratroop drops. Holland was obligated to defend its territory and in Rotterdam, General Schmidt was held back by Dutch Colonel Scharroo at the north bank of the Nieuwe Maas river that runs through the city. An important bridge called Willemsbrug fell in German hands and could not be retaken anymore but the garrison forces held their ground. By the morning of May 14, Hitler became impatient and issued Weisung Number 11: the facilitation of Fortress Holland's fall with air support. General Schmidt called in help from Stuka dive bombers but in stead he received HE 111 carpet bombers! A ceasefire was agreed but Hitler ignored it and followed through on the plan, ending up with the utter destruction of the medieval city centre. 884 people died and 95,000 were left homeless, due to a combination of bombs and fires. Only the St. Lawrence Church was left standing in the centre, badly damaged. The ZH-29 is a semi-auto rifle developed in Czechoslovakia in 1929. It's a gas-operated tilting bolt rifle with a 5-bullet magazine, but in real life there's also a 10-bullet box and 20-round box available. It was one of the first self-loading guns and it was not only used by the Czechs and Germans, but also by the Chinese National Revolutionary Army, the Ethiopian Empire, Lithuania and Thailand. Japan used a copy of the ZH-29 model.
